A Thought About The Church
A Thought About The Church
“Nothing Moves Without His Will. Not Even A Blade of Grass.”
An endless summer. Middle of the afternoon. A light breeze. Sun beams streaming through open doors. Stillness. Silent conversations. Conversations with God. A perfect place for contemplation and meditation. A place to heal from life’s vicissitudes. A place to reflect inward and move forward with new resolve. Pray. “Grace finds beauty in everything.” – Bono, U2.
- 2004. A hundred years. Centennial calendar. A unique point in time. There I was taking pictures and happened to meet Father Nerius. A conversation started and I learned about the Centennial. Some of my photographs with pictures by another photographer were selected for the Centennial Calendar.
I wish to fulfill my endeavor of studying the Churches of Bandra West, Mumbai through the lens and verse. Architecture. Congregation. Prayer. All faiths are welcome.
Mt Mary Church and the cafes of Bandstand offer a unique experience. After visiting the Mt Mary Church in mid-afternoon, stroll down the hill to the oceanside of Bandstand and experience the serenity of the ocean as it laps within reach along the promenade. There really ought to be a heritage tour of Bandra West, with a dialogue of the history, architecture, archived heritage, anecdotes of cultural interest. Culminate the tour of all The Churches with high tea with some of the local residents to share and hear experiences of Catholicism in Bandra.
The Church has recently been renovated and revamped. Mother Mary’s Steps have a clean and restored frontage and Steps.
A personal experience involves the Sun. Ocean. Coffee. Entrepreneurship. I have frequented this spot and experienced the Church for many years and call them Bandra’s best kept secret.

They say that the entire universe is just a thought in God’s domain. As a friend once said, “the more positive energy you give to the universe, the more positive energy it gives back.”
